Horse trekking

Day 1

We meet you at the international Chinggis Khan airport of Mongolia upon arrival and transfer you to your hotel. Depending on your flight schedule, we will visit the National History Museum of Mongolia close to your hotel and have a short walk around the main Sukhbaatar square. B,L,D

A traditional Mongolian folk concert with talented throat singers, dancers and a beautiful contortionist show can be seen in the evening.
After enjoying your welcome dinner you will be lead back to the hotel for a good night’s rest. B,LD

Day 2

This morning we transfer to the airport and take a one hour domestic flight to Hovsgol province in the North. Upon landing, we will be greeted by the Harganat team at the local airport at half an hour drive to ViaVia harganat Lodge. After check- in at the lodge we start exploring the surrounding area covered with bronze age graves and herds of animals grazing.B,LD

Day 3

After breakfast we introduce the Mongolian horse and their characteristics. After receiving some instructions how to ride, we go on horseback through the beautiful granite Holy mountains with a 360 degrees panoramic scenery. We go down towards the Deer Stone heritage site with carved deer images on standing rocks from 3500-4000 years ago.

Walking up and down the mountain range by horse, you will be good adjusted to sitting on the saddle. On the way back to the lodge in open area you can feel what it means to ride like the wind in a land without borders. 

After the ride enjoy a refreshing swim into the main river or try out the elegant sport of fly fishing. B,L,D

Day 4

At 6 o’clock in the morning, we will ride from the camp and collect the horses.

After collecting the horses, we will go up Surt Valley, cross Delen Pass and reach Tagyn Lake. On this day, we will go up from 1400m to 1750m and spend the night in the highlands. B,L,D

Day 5

Up North, we pass thousands of sheep and nomad families that we’ll visit along the way, to reach Chingunjav’s  memorial mound. Mongol revolutionary Chingunjav was born in this area. He stood up and fought for the independence of our country in the 17th century.  It has 13 yurt sized stone pyramids on the top of the mountain. From the top you have a panoramic view. 

Riding down to visit Arbulag (a typical Mongolian remote village), shopping and after an hour ride we camp near a little river, next to nomad families. B,L,D

Day 6

After breakfast let’s ride further up North. At the end we will camp in a beautiful green valley with yaks grazing. B,L,D

Day 7

Ride along the wild and green valley. After lunch cross the asphalt road to Hovsgol lake, pass Alag- Erdene village and cross Eg river on a bridge and camp near the river. B,L,D

Day 8

Riding along beautiful Eg river valley up north towards Hovsgol lake. At the end of the day we will reach Hovsgol lake on its left shore, thank our horses for an amazing ride and go by boat to the wonderful situated Ashihai tourist lodge. B,L,D

Day 9

Hike around the forested mountain slopes full of alpine flowers around Hovsgol lake, collect special stones or drift wood at its shore or swim in the crystal clear fresh water. B,L,D

Day 10

After breakfast on the way back to Via via Harganat Lodge B,L,D

Day 11

Fly back to Ulaanbaatar and whole afternoon can be shopping for finest quality cashmere and wool
